It’s hard to feel small when you’re riding a huge tractor, but the beautiful landscape of Golden Gate Highlands National Park puts everything into perspective. It gets its name from the golden hues that result when the sun hits the sandstone cliffs. It’s an ancient place, with San cave paintings and dinosaur skeletons waiting to be discovered. If you head a bit south-east you’ll find more spectacular landscapes in Royal Natal National Park, home of Tugela Falls, which at 948m is the world’s second highest waterfall.
