which at over 3000 meters is the highest of its kind in the world. It also happens to produce the highest quality diamonds in Africa. Our route took us through a series of mountain passes, which at 3200 meters were nothing short of spectacular. We ended up descending a good 700 meters to Mokhotlong, the main city in the northeastern part of Lesotho.Most people don’t associate Africa with skiing, but there are actually two resorts in Southern Africa—we saw one today in Lesotho. At an altitude of just over 3000 meters, Afriski is open for skiing from June to August (winter down here), while offering other outdoor activities in the warmer months. We then proceeded south through Lesotho, passing the Lesteng diamond mine,
